What attracted you to the Karralika Board?

Gill has a longstanding interest in alcohol and other drug matters, having previously been a board member of the Drug and Alcohol Shelter in Alice Springs, and worked on a project with Karralika Programs to evaluate the Family Program. Joining the Karralika Board provides an opportunity to use her expertise in evaluation, governance and public health to support a local organisation provide quality services to the region.

When you’re not at board meetings, what do you do professionally?

Gill is a Principal at NOUS Group, an international management consultancy group providing advice on strategy right through to transformational change. Gill works on the health and human services element of the business, and her team work to deliver positive influence that improves outcomes for people and communities.

How does your experience support Karralika Programs in providing a strong service to the wider community?

Gill has extensive experience in evaluating social and health programs to contribute to their accountability and quality improvement. She has also worked in community development, in particular with First Nations organisations and communities on issues related to drugs and alcohol. Gill’s experience with working collaboratively to problem solve issues in community environments is an asset to Karralika Programs.

Gill’s most recent work has focused on:

  • Evaluating the government response to COVID-19 in remote Indigenous communities
  • Working with a community in the Northern Territory to identify how to run a successful Men’s Behaviour Change Program
  • Evaluating the Commonwealth response to the Black Summer Bushfires
  • Supporting service improvement in youth services in Central Australia
  • Evaluated the impact of alcohol outlets in remote Aboriginal communities in the top end of the Northern Territory, including analysing alcohol-related effects of eight ‘social clubs’ and their management strategies for controlling alcohol-related harm

Gill holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Education, a Master of Public Health.
