Community Development Officer – Riverina Region

Karralika Programs is seeking an experienced and innovative Community Development Officer to join our team, to work with and provide support to Community Drug Action Teams (CDATs) in the Murrumbidgee, Southern Tablelands region.

Karralika Programs, as part of a Consortium of specialist alcohol and other drug organisations and funding from the NSW Ministry of Health, delivers the Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) Program throughout NSW. Community Drug Action Teams were established with the aim of making local communities safer, healthier and stronger by reducing the harms associated with the use of alcohol and other drugs.

Since 1999, more than 70 CDATs have been established across NSW, and are made up of volunteer community members, staff from Local Health Districts and representatives from other government and non-government agencies. The CDATs organise activities and develop resources aimed at strengthening their communities by delivering prevention activities and awareness to help reduce drug and alcohol related harm in their local communities, with the support of Consortium Community Devlopment Officers.

As the Community Development Officer, you will be instrumental in supporting and coordinating these activities of the Community Drug Action Teams in the region, to meet regularly, participate in regional and state forums, and to develop, plan and execute activities for their local communities in line with the Regional Action Plans.

To ensure the continued success of the Program in the region, you will have strong stakeholder engagement skills that will enable continued development and establishment of sustainable new and existing relationships with a wide range of service providers, local government representatives, community organisations and other key stakeholders.
