In 2016, Karralika Programs Inc. has been operating in the ACT for 40 years, supporting adults and their families in Canberra and surrounding regions through a range of alcohol and drug programs. To celebrate this milestone, we hosted a free community fun day on Saturday 26 November that was attended by hundreds of people from across the Canberra community who came along and flew a kite to raise hope.
Kites for Karralika marked the 40th year of providing important rehabilitation services to the Canberra region, helping families who have been impacted by drug and alcohol use. The event celebrated the strength and tenacity of individuals and families who are making positive changes in their lives and offered encouragement to those who have not yet taken that first step on their road to recovery.
Kites for Karralika was an opportunity to involve the community in celebrating recovery, connecting with the community and to publicly acknowledge the dedication and support provided by the Karralika team over the years in helping families choose a better life.
There were many free activities for children including a jumping castle, rock climbing wall, face painting and craft activities. Local musicians entertained families throughout the event including the recently crowned Australian National Busking Champion Lucy Sugarman and Guyy & The Fox. For a gold coin donation, children received a kite to fly on the day.
From time to time, Karralika Programs Inc. organises events to raise its profile in the community, promote messages associated with the services we provide as well as to raise funds for our projects and services. Opportunities are available for individuals and companies to sponsor or participate in all events organised by Karralika Programs Inc.
