Safety and Wellbeing of Children
Statement of Commitment to the Safety and Wellbeing of Children and Young People.
Karralika Programs is committed to promoting and protecting the rights, safety and wellbeing of children and young people. We respect and listen to the views of the children and young people we support and are committed to creating environments where children and young people feel safe, are safe, and are empowered to participate in decisions that affect them.
We have zero tolerance for child abuse, neglect and/or exploitation. We are committed to preventing harm and responding promptly and appropriately to any concerns, disclosures or incidents.
In line with our organisational values, Karralika Programs works to foster a strong culture of child safety and wellbeing across all areas of our organisation. We recognise that safeguarding children and young people requires effective leadership, clear systems, and shared responsibility. Our staff, Board members, volunteers, contractors and partners are expected to uphold child safety and understand their role in protecting children and young people from harm.
Karralika Programs is committed to embedding the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations in our governance, policies, practices and everyday actions. We support children, young people and families to thrive by promoting wellbeing, respecting diversity, and strengthening participation and inclusion. We work collaboratively with families, communities and other organisations to promote child safety and wellbeing and involve them in decision-making where it is safe and appropriate to do so.
We are committed to ensuring that children and young people understand their rights, including their right to feel and be safe, and know what to do if they feel unsafe. We also ensure that all workers engaged by Karralika Programs are appropriately screened, trained and supported to maintain a safe, welcoming and respectful environment for everyone.
We are committed to continually strengthening the practices, policies and systems that protect and uphold the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
