The Nexus Program

Karralika Programs Inc. offers a community based treatment program for people experiencing alcohol and other drug issues through the Nexus Program (Incorporating the Men’s Halfway House Program and Aftercare program).

About the Program

The Nexus Program provides case-managed support, education, counseling and referral for males 18 years and over who have undertaken a treatment program and are preparing to return to mainstream society.

The Nexus Program is the ‘linking phase’ between treatment and re-integration into the community. It’s a time of preparation and the consolidation of knowledge and skills gained in earlier stages. It sees people begin to take their place back in society over 3-6 months. At this vulnerable stage, as clients move from the community or residential programs to a Nexus Program house and then into their own accommodation in the community, they are supported by weekly case management and group sessions, as well as counseling/support sessions with Community Team staff.  Nexus offers community-based through care providing clients with a supportive and gradual community re-entry with opportunities to engage in training, employment and/or education.

Attendance at Narcotics Anonymous or other similar community-based self-help groups also continues during this stage of the program. Associations established with other agencies for a range of services to ensure the most successful transition possible into the wider community also continue. Particular emphasis at this stage is placed on career development, employment options, social relationships and practical living skills, which are supported by innovative partnerships with other community agencies

To be eligible for the Nexus Program, you must have completed initial treatment for alcohol and other drug dependency. The Program accepts referrals directly from the community, from Karralika Therapeutic Community Program and from other programs (including other residential treatment programs from interstate).
