“I’m starting to understand that I can be someone within the community, with a stable life, not just a regular face in custody. I’m learning that there is more to life than being incarcerated. In this [Solaris] community the people are fantastic, the over-whelming support, a selfless act, and the leadership from the facilitators, incredible.” – Solaris Therapeutic Community participant.

“At first, being a court-ordered affair, I came [to the Sober Driver Program] armed with the attitude that it was something I would just have to endure to ‘tick the box’…however, at a very early stage I started to find the course a very valuable experience, and it has already influenced my behaviour and thinking patterns when it comes to alcohol in general, let alone drinking and driving. Keep up the good work.” – Sober Driver Program Participant.

“Concepts like personal responsibility, consequential thinking, and living spiritually and with principles were just words to me before I came to this community. Each day I am given opportunities and support to not just understand these concepts but practice them. As a result I am seeing both how unacceptable and inappropriate much of my previous behaviour has been – to my family, my friends and importantly, to the broader community. But I am also being shown that if I can adapt both my thinking and behaviour in this community, and learn from the peers who model the way I wish to be, that there is hope for my future too. I truly believe that this community will enable me to once again be a supportive and responsible parent, a productive and trustworthy member of society but also finally, and ultimately, the honest, proud woman I aspire to be.” – Resident, Karralika Therapeutic Community.

Karralika has given me the tools to lead a productive, drug-free and fulfilling life. Welcome to our new website!

Karralika Programs Inc. is excited to unveil our new website and our new logo.
Many of you will know our organisation and the services and programs we deliver as ADFACT – the Alcohol and Drug Foundation of the ACT.

Changing our name to Karralika Programs Inc. connects us to the history of our beginnings back in the late 1970’s at the Karralika Homestead (Karralika is said to mean ‘on a height’), as well as reflecting how the organisation has evolved since then.

Karralika Programs Inc. offers a range of alcohol and drug rehabilitation and education programs in residential and community settings and within the Alexander Maconochie Centre to help individuals and families ‘choose a better life’.

I invite you to take a look around the site and let us know what you think!

We are proud to support individuals and families in the ACT and surrounding regions and acknowledge the support we receive from the State, Territory and Federal Government agencies as well as our fantastic members and partners.

While you’re here, why not consider becoming a member of Karralika Programs Inc. or contacting us to talk about how you might be able to add your support.

Camilla Rowland
Chief Executive Officer
